BTS Agency Establishes 'Climate Forest' in Bangladesh… 300,000 Trees in 3 Years

Hwang Deok-hyun, climate and environment specialist: The Environmental Foundation announced on the 24th that HYBE, the entertainment agency behind BTS, has planted a total of 300,000 mangrove trees over three years since 2022. This forest is expected to absorb about 426,000 tons of carbon over the next 20 years.

HYBE and the Environmental Foundation have planted mangroves on a 60-hectare site in the Dacope region of Khulna District, Bangladesh.

According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Bangladesh is home to about 62% of the world's Sundarbans mangroves. It is estimated that the forest area has decreased by up to 30% over the past 50 years due to indiscriminate land development, agricultural expansion, and shrimp farming.
