A heated debate broke out over actor Choo Youngwoo’s SNS activity.
On the 2nd, a list of Choo Youngwoo's Instagram followers was posted on major online communities, drawing attention. In the list, which was captured and shared by a user on X, Choo Youngwoo was following several influencers whose main content revolves around body exposure. He was also following a female cam model who was previously involved in a s****l har***ment controversy and was known to have collaborated with a BJ in the past.
The user added a comment saying, "Celebrities usually tidy up their follow lists before they get famous, but Choo Youngwoo seems to have lack principles."
Reactions to the list were mixed. On female-dominated communities, there were voices of criticism such as, "I didn't expect this, I’m disappointed," "Isn't this the time for his popularity to rise?" "Is it real that he's following those kinds of people on a public account?" and "What is his agency doing not managing this?"
On the other hand, male-dominated communities expressed concerns about excessive scrutiny, saying things like, "What's the problem with this?" "Do followers have to be censored?" "This feels like they’re trying to impose control," and "They're digging up everything."
It is reported that Choo Youngwoo has since cleaned up most of his followers, except for those who are entertainment industry-related or his colleagues.
Choo Youngwoo has risen to prominence as an actor, playing Yang Jae-won in Netflix's original series The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call and Song Seo-in in JTBC's The Queen's House. His next project is the tvN drama The Cowherd and the Weaver Girl.
