Kim Choyeon, a former contestant from Produce 48, has shared an update about her life.
On February 1st, a video featuring Kim Choyeon was uploaded to the "Geunhwang Olympic" channel with the title, "After retiring, working as a server at a Chinese restaurant, 'Produce' contestant competing with Jang Wonyoung for the center position."
Kim Choyeon first gained attention when she participated in Produce 48 as a trainee under A Team Entertainment in 2018.
At that time, Kim Choyeon went through a tough period as she was often compared to Jang Wonyoung, the center of the competing team, due to her exaggerated facial expressions. Kim Choyeon shared, "People still remember me from that video. Even now, I get comments on my posts asking, 'Isn't that the person from back then?'"
Regarding her rivalry with Jang Wonyoung for the center position, Kim Choyeon said, "Jang Wonyoung is really pretty. I love idol stages, and when I see her on stage, she's just so beautiful. I hope she does even better."
She also added, "I feel both proud and sorry for myself watching how hard I worked back then. I wonder if I could ever work that hard again in my life, and it makes me emotional."
During her time as an idol, she struggled with depression and panic disorder. She shared, "Being an idol was harsh. Mentally, it was really difficult, which led to depression and panic disorder, and it got so bad that I couldn't stand on stage anymore. I couldn't breathe, and I felt like I was going to collapse. I even fainted a few times on the subway during my commute. Even after going to the hospital, it didn't improve."
She also shared, "While I was an idol, I was always showing off my pretty side, but seeing myself all sweaty and a mess made me feel miserable. Since it was my first time working a part-time job, I made a lot of mistakes, and I thought to myself, 'What am I even doing right now?'"
