[theqoo] FORMER NCT MEMBER TAEIL AVOIDS DETENTION, STANDS TRIAL ON CHARGES OF AGGRAVATED QUASI-R****

Taeil (30, real name Moon Taeil), a former member of idol group NCT, has been indicted on charges of s*x**lly assaulting a woman along with his acquaintances. It was later reported that an arrest warrant was also filed against Taeil, but it was dismissed.

According to legal sources on Thursday, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office's Women's and Children's Crime Investigation Division 1 (Deputy Chief Kim Ji-hye) sent Moon and his two accomplices to trial on March 28 on charges of special quasi-r*** under the S*x**l Violence Punishment Act. They are accused of s*x**lly assaulting an intoxicated woman in June last year.

Earlier, when it became known that the police had charged them with special quasi-r***, there were reports that they were in possession of a weapon during the crime, but it was confirmed that this was not the case. The charge is committed when two or more persons possess a weapon or jointly commit adultery against a person who is in an incapacitated state of mind or body.

The Seoul Bangbae Police Department, which received the victim's report in June last year, applied for an arrest warrant for the three suspects, but the court rejected it, citing the fact that they had admitted to the crime and there was no need to detain them. In August of the same year, two months after receiving the report, the police called Taeil in for questioning and sent him to prosecutors in September.

They denied planning the crime. Unlike his accomplices, who were questioned by the prosecutor's office, Taeil did not respond to the summons, citing his health condition. He reportedly submitted a medical certificate and a lawyer's opinion.

Taeil debuted with NCT's unit NCT U in 2016 and was a member of NCT's affiliated group NCT 127. He was dismissed from his agency SM Entertainment in October last year after he was indicted.
