The last time BTS released a group album was in June 2022 with the anthology album Proof. Their most recent concert was “Yet to Come in Busan” in October 2022.

HYBE has repeatedly stated, “Once all members return, they will make a comeback and perform,” indicating that content preparations are underway.

However, industry expectations suggest that BTS is unlikely to immediately release new music or hold concerts right after completing their service. It will take time to achieve the level of quality that global fans expect.

At the annual shareholders’ meeting in March, HYBE CEO Jae-sang Lee said, “BTS members will need time for preparation and creative work after returning from service. We are discussing and preparing with top-tier producers, but the members also need time to reflect and prepare.”

He added, “Typically, the process involves working on music, releasing an album, then going on tour. Since BTS is already at the top of the global music scene, it’s also important to align their future direction and vision.”

Because of this, industry observers believe a new group release is most likely by the end of this year, or possibly pushed to the first half of next year. Jin’s upcoming solo fan concerts in Goyang (next month), followed by stops in Japan, the U.S., the U.K., and the Netherlands through August, also support this timeline.

In the meantime, members have expressed their enthusiasm about returning. RM said on the fan platform Weverse, “I have so much I want to share through music and words.” Jimin promised, “I will present the best stage possible for those who waited.”
