[theqoo] SON HEUNGMIN, "SHE WAS PREGNANT", DATED A WOMAN IN HER 20S WHO BLACKMAILED HIM... LOST 300 MILLION WON LAST YEAR

A group that blackmailed South Korean national football player Son Heungmin (33, Tottenham), claiming a woman was pregnant with his child and demanding hundreds of millions of won to keep it quiet, has been arrested. It has been confirmed that Son handed over more than 300 million won (~ $214K USD) to the blackmailers. The woman in her 20s, who used the pregnancy to blackmail him, was reportedly in a relationship with him.

The Gangnam Police Station in Seoul arrested a woman in her 20s, referred to as "A," on charges of blackmail, and a man in his 40s, "B," on charges of attempted blackmail on the 14th. On the 15th, their homes were searched.

According to the police, A began blackmailing Son's side last year, eventually receiving over 300 million won. Son's side initially complied but filed a police report when further demands were made.

Investigation revealed that in June 2023, A sent ultrasound images to Son's side, claiming she was pregnant, and continued to demand large sums of money, receiving over 300 million won in total.

However, the timing of the alleged pregnancy stated by A reportedly does not align with Son's testimony.

Police are currently verifying the authenticity of the materials A submitted.

It was also reported that after receiving the money, A signed a written agreement promising not to disclose anything publicly.

Later, B, an acquaintance of A, became aware of the situation and, in March of this year, threatened to leak the pregnancy story to the media unless he was paid 70 million won (~$50K USD). Police are investigating whether A was aware of B's actions.

Son's side did not give any money to B. B is said to have a prior record of similar offenses.

Police are planning to request arrest warrants for both A and B.

Meanwhile, Son's agency issued an official statement on the 15th, saying, "Son Heungmin is clearly a victim," and, "We will take strong legal action to ensure those who spread malicious falsehoods and commit blackmail are punished without leniency."

1. If he had no plans to marry her, then he should refrain himself

2. Just use birth control, sigh

3. Ew disgusting

4. I have a lot to say but I'll keep it to myself... this makes me realize that other athletes who have a clean record like Park Jisung are really amazing

5. It's not that having s** as an adult is something to be blamed for. It's the mindset of "I want to get laid, but I don't want to take responsibility and I don't want to use a c**d**” that people take issue with. Just because someone tries to blackmail you doesn't mean you always fall for it... The woman should absolutely be punished by law. And regardless of the legal side, doing something that puts you in a position to be blackmailed is morally questionable and deserves the hate. Seeing that these people have prior records of similar crimes, their intentions from the start may have been shady. So I won't criticize him myself. But saying he's being blamed just for having s**?ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ That's missing the point

6. She wasn't his girlfriend???

7. If you weren't dating her but she gets pregnant, shouldn't you at least marry her out of responsibility?

8. If he was a male idol, he'd get so much more hateã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

9. Use a c**d** if you're not thinking of marrying her

10. It's because he's an athlete and is good at playing soccer that people have been hyping him up so much all this time but he's been quite severeã…Žã…Ž
