Cuckoo Sues for 2.8 Billion Won
On June 13, reports emerged that Cuckoo Holdings, known as a premium rice cooker brand, had filed a damages suit or seizure application against Kim Soohyun. This development raised questions about the legal moves of other companies previously tied to him.
Our investigation confirmed that Cuckoo Holdings affiliates,Cuckoo Electronics, Cuckoo Homesys, Cuckoo Homesys Malaysia (Cuckoo International Berhad), and medical aesthetics platform Classys have all taken legal action against Kim.
Following Kim’s scandal, many brands, including Eider, Shabu All Day, Dinto, Homeplus, Shinhan Bank, Tous Les Jours, Prada, and Jo Malone, suspended promotional activities featuring him.
There were earlier reports that 7-Eleven Taiwan was considering a 6 billion won lawsuit, but until now, no updates on lawsuits from other Korean companies were confirmed, aside from Cuckoo and Classys.

FromBio Files the Largest Lawsuit
Our investigation revealed that FromBio and Trendmaker filed civil suits against Kim and his agency between April and May. FromBio, a well-known health supplement company currently developing a stem cell hair loss treatment, appointed Kim as their model in October last year following his rising popularity after the drama Queen of Tears. His wholesome image was considered a great match.

Dinto's Parent Company Files 500 Million Won Lawsuit
Trendmaker, which operates the vegan cosmetics brand Dinto, selected Kim Soohyun as its model in August last year to elevate its luxury image. The brand experienced rapid sales growth domestically and overseas, including in Japan, and was in the process of raising 20 billion won in investment as of February.
The scandal was a devastating blow. Trendmaker announced the termination of its contract with Kim via Instagram on March 12 and filed a 501 million won damages suit on April 25. The case is being handled by Seoul Central District Court’s Civil Division 22.
Total Lawsuit Amount Reaches 7.3 Billion WonAs of now, Kim Soo-hyun and Gold Medalist are facing the following lawsuits:
- 850 million won from Cuckoo Electronics
- 2.03 billion won won combined from Cuckoo Holdings affiliates
- 501 million won from Trendmaker
- 3.96 billion won from FromBio
