Tensions reignite in court between NewJeans and ADOR
The conflict between NewJeans and ADOR has flared up again in court. The once-solid trust between them has already crumbled, and all that remains is a sharp war of words.
On June 5, the Seoul Central District Court’s Civil Division 41 held the second hearing for the lawsuit filed by ADOR seeking confirmation of the validity of its exclusive contract with the five NewJeans members. Although the members did not attend, the courtroom was tense as the legal representatives of both sides exchanged firm arguments.
NewJeans’s side firmly rejected any possibility of a settlement, stating in court, “The trust has already been broken beyond repair. We’ve crossed the point of no return.”
In response to ADOR’s claim that they continued managing the group even after the change in CEO for the sake of the members’ activities, NewJeans’s side retorted, “Anyone could have done that. That’s not what we signed an exclusive contract for,” sharply criticizing the label’s stance.
ADOR, on the other hand, maintained its position, saying, “A court ruling needs to come first before any kind of settlement can be discussed.” It appears that the legal judgment will serve as a critical turning point in their relationship.
