
Taeil (31, real name Moon Taeil), formerly of the group NCT, has been sentenced to X years in prison and taken into custody following a conviction in the first trial for charges of quasi-rape under special circumstances.
On the afternoon of the 10th, the Seoul Central District Court’s Criminal Agreement Division 26 (Chief Judge Lee Hyun-kyung) sentenced Taeil, who was indicted on charges of quasi-r*** under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of S****l Crimes, to X years in prison and [additional penalties]. Taeil, who had been on trial without detention, was taken into custody in court.
During the trial, the court stated regarding Taeil: “(quote not provided)”.

In sentencing Taeil to X years in prison and [additional penalties], the court ordered his immediate detention. When asked by the judge, “Do you have anything you’d like to say regarding your detention?” Taeil responded, “(quote not provided)”.
Following the victim’s report, Taeil was booked by the police and summoned for questioning in August of the same year. At the time, his agency SM Entertainment announced his departure from the group, stating, “We recognize the gravity of the situation and have determined that he can no longer continue group activities.”
At the first trial held on June 18, prosecutors said, “This is a very serious case involving the gang r*** of a foreign female tourist by the defendants. The nature of the crime is extremely severe and egregious,” and requested a 7-year prison sentence for each of the three individuals, including Taeil.
Taeil debuted in 2016 as part of NCT’s unit NCT U and was active as a member of both NCT and its sub-group NCT 127. However, after it was revealed in August of last year that he had been accused of a s** crime, he was expelled from the group.
