Today I saw a video on TikTok of an idol from another group participating in a dance challenge my bias started and f*ck...they were so bad. Shockingly bad. Honestly, I don't even know how they became an idol. I couldn't tell if they were naturally bad at dancing or if they were trying too hard to be s*xy and that's why the video was terrible. I glanced at the comment section and everyone was hyping them up. I felt irritated because I wanted to like the video to show support for my group's song and their challenge, but the video was so awkward.
Really, I don't know who's more annoying in this situation? Idols who try hard to look cool and s*xy when they have zero charm or stans who see idols violently move around the room and equate that with fun and seduction. Either way, it's so uncomfortable to watch people with zero s*x appeal stick their tongues out and thrust in the air as if they're doing something remarkable. I could pick up a paintbrush and haphazardly brush it around a canvas a bunch of times, but that doesn't automatically make me Da Vinci, does it?
I know personal preferences exist, but some people suit some styles more than others. I believe this works both ways as well. It's uncomfortable watching some idols try and act like pitiful babies or innocent kids. You're in your late 20s-30s, and you don't even have a babyface, so who is this for? Throw out that school uniform already. Your smile doesn't even reach your eyes when you do aegyo anyways. You're clearly miserable.
Like hair colors and makeup styles, idols should search for concepts (s*xy, natural, cute, girl/boy next door) that suits them and stick to those concepts. There's nothing wrong with suiting one concept more than the other.
