[theqoo] BYUN WOOSEOK CAST IN 'SOLO LEVELING', CONFIRMED FOR NETFLIX PRODUCTION

On July 10, Netflix confirmed the production of a Korean live action series adaptation of “Solo Leveling” with Byeon Woo Seok cast as the lead.

Originally a web novel, “Solo Leveling” follows Sung Jin Woo, an E-rank Hunter—the lowest tier among those who protect the real world from monsters beyond the mysterious Gates. After a near-death experience, he gains extraordinary abilities, and as he levels up, he becomes humanity’s unexpected hope.

The series was also adapted into an animation, sweeping nine major categories—including “Anime of the Year,” “Best Action,” and “Best Character”—at the 2025 Crunchyroll Awards, the world’s largest animation awards.

Byeon Woo Seok, who solidified his status as a global star through the drama “Lovely Runner,” is drawing great anticipation as he is set to showcase the story of Sung Jin Woo’s growth and intense action in this new project.

Director Lee Hae Jun, who helmed the films “Ashfall,” “Like a Virgin,” and “Castaway on the Moon,” as well as Kim Byung Seo, known for his unique storytelling, stylish action, and striking visuals in films including “Cold Eyes,” are set to collaborate on “Solo Leveling,” adding further credibility.
