[theqoo] HANNI'S 'IGNORE HER' REMARK REVEALED, "WHY WAS ONLY THE EXIT FOOTAGE DELETED?"

In the ongoing lawsuit between K-pop group NewJeans and their agency ADOR regarding the validity of their exclusive contract, the NewJeans side addressed the controversy surrounding member Hanni’s claim about being told to be ignored.

On the third hearing of the exclusive contract validity confirmation lawsuit, held by the Seoul Central District Court’s Civil Division 41, the NewJeans legal team brought up Hanni’s claim that a manager from ILLIT had told others to “ignore her.”

The NewJeans lawyer questioned, “There’s footage of her entering, but why was the footage of her leaving deleted? It makes it look like Hanni is a liar, how would the other members feel seeing that? How can they return to an agency that treats their own artist like a liar instead of protecting them?”

Back in October 2024, Hanni appeared before the National Assembly’s Environment and Labor Committee as a witness, testifying on workplace bullying in the entertainment industry. She shared, “There’s a floor at the company where hair and makeup are done. I had finished early and was waiting in the hallway. Members from another label walked past me without greeting me, even though they had done so in the past. About five to ten minutes later, they came out again, and a manager from their team made eye contact with me and told the members following behind to ‘pretend you didn’t see her, ignore her.’ I don’t understand why I had to go through that, or how someone like that could even work in that environment. And the problem wasn’t just a one-time thing.”

Hanni reaffirmed her memory of the so-called “ignore incident” in a post on the NJZ official Instagram on the 7th, writing, “I remember everything clearly. I wanted to say something in court earlier but held back.”

That same day, the Seoul Central District Court’s 50th Civil Division held a hearing on ADOR’s injunction request to prohibit NewJeans (Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, Hyein) from signing contracts and conducting entertainment activities without the company’s approval.

ADOR presented footage showing ILLIT members bowing 90 degrees toward Hanni and highlighted her messaging exchanges with Min Hee-jin. They stated, “Even Hanni herself said all three ILLIT members greeted her and that no one actually said ‘ignore her.’ She said she didn’t remember clearly but thought the manager might’ve just said to pass by without reacting. It was Min Hee-jin who escalated things by asking, ‘Ignore you? Everyone ignored you?’ and then framed the incident around that. When asked, ‘Was the manager the one who told them not to greet you?’ Hanni responded, ‘I’m not sure.’”

Hanni appeared to become lost in thought while reviewing the CCTV footage and messages during the hearing. At one point, she gave a small laugh, turned her head, and smiled at Danielle, who was seated next to her.

Meanwhile, the Seoul Central District Court’s 52nd Civil Division ruled on ADOR’s request for an injunction prohibiting NewJeans from conducting activities without prior approval from the agency. The court stated:

“Until the first trial verdict on the exclusive contract validity lawsuit, the NewJeans members must not engage in independent entertainment activities or do so through third parties without ADOR’s prior approval or consent.”

The court also ruled that:

“If the members violate this obligation after receiving the official decision, they must pay 1 billion KRW per violation to ADOR.”

This means if all five NewJeans members conduct independent activities, they could collectively face a penalty of 5 billion KRW.

Notably, while the group attended the March hearing for the injunction, they did not appear at the first two hearings for the main lawsuit regarding their exclusive contract.

4. If you're that confident, at least bring the proof to the court. Why make a fuss on Insta?

5. But Min Heejin's KaTalks weren't fake? The words she used were even worse than the 'ignore her' comment

6. How nit-picky are you about etiquette that you have to make that much of a fuss? Even having the celebrity disease should have its limits
