Announcement from HYBE
Regarding the case HYBE filed last year accusing former CEO Min Heejin and others of breach of duty, which was recently dismissed by the prosecution, HYBE plans to promptly file an objection to this non-prosecution decision today.
Following the police investigation, new developments occurred, including NewJeans members announcing contract terminations. Numerous new pieces of evidence were submitted during related trials, and based on these, the court has taken a very serious view of former CEO Min’s actions. The injunction appellate court (Seoul High Court) judged that Min is “intentionally destroying the integrated structure that was the basis of the exclusive contract.” Based on this, HYBE intends to challenge the non-prosecution decision through the objection process.
Additionally, regarding the complaint filed by former CEO Min and others last July against five HYBE executives for obstruction of business and violation of the Network Act (defamation), the investigative authorities have decided not to prosecute due to lack of charges. The authorities found that HYBE’s claims “are not likely to be false,” “concern the public interest and thus lack intent to defame,” and that “the KakaoTalk conversations were lawfully obtained during the audit process with proper authority.”
We also inform you that all other reckless lawsuits and complaints filed by former CEO Min against HYBE and its affiliates’ executives and employees have been concluded with non-prosecution decisions.
These include:
- Former CEO Min Heejin’s defamation and false accusation complaint against Belift Lab executives and creative directors,
- Team Bunnies' defamation complaint against Belift Lab executives under the Network Act,
Shin Woo-seok, CEO of Dolphiners, filing defamation complaints against current ADOR executives under the Network Act.
All have been dismissed or decided with no charges.
Thank you.
