[theqoo] THE IDOL NEW SONG CONCEPT RECEIVING DEBATED OPINIONS ON PLAGIARISM VS HOMAGE

Tweet: Can you just use the manga's name like that?? What will happen to me if I want to read about Slam Dunk content in my timeline?

QRT: It's been a word widely used in basketball even before Slam Dunk became a manga

Tweet: You’re saying this can be forgiven? And on top of that, you're going to make the fans speak up about it? What do you think will happen if fans of other groups, especially Slam Dunk fans hearing this at a concert or awards show? Have you not thought about that? Where is your conscience?

QRT: The fans are already dying of embarrassment right now, so please refrain from attacking the artists. This isn’t something the members intended to do...
If you’re going to blame someone, please direct it at Wake One, that incompetent agency.
We sincerely ask for your understanding

"Is Wake One out of their mind? I mean, we already knew they were messed up, but this seriously crosses the line. They can’t do a single thing properly, and now they’re copying another country’s culture and telling fans to shout? Give me a break, seriously;;;
Whether it’s the writer or whoever, there’s absolutely zero respect for the fans.
Get a grip, seriously."

T/n: On the 1st photo, ZB1 is using the tagline "Left hand is here to assist" which is the same line used in Slam Dunk's Korean manga translate. This line is famously from the Korean-dubbed version of the anime Slam Dunk, where the character says it while making a shot in basketball.

On the 2nd photo, ZB1 is seen chanting "Man of Fire" which is the same slogan as Slam Dunk

The left hand is here to assist:

"The left hand is here to assist"

Man of Fire:

"It’s not just about the fan chant, the whole concept is a complete rip-off.
You all had no problem consuming it mindlessly even when they blatantly copied things like the ‘Number One’ on the palm.
You said it was just a pre-existing basketball term, that it was just a Bulls uniform, and now what, they’re openly using iconic quotes too? Are they seriously planning to milk everything without shame?"

original post: here

1. But this is quite obviously a homage...

2. If they're gonna do this, they should get the approval of doing it at least now

3. It just looks like a very huge attempt to cosplay and it's clearly an homage. But I feel like they should've went for a "true" collaboration instead of doing it like that

4. What the heck is this...? ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ It's clearly an homage, but the way they executed it is so dumb

5. It looks like a cosplay ...ㅋㅋㅋ

6. Aigo, this will flop ㅠㅠㅠ

7. That's way too blatant to be plagiarized, I think it's an homage

8. No but f*ck this is too severe ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

9. But you can see that they had 0 intentions of hiding the Slam Dunk references, so it has to be an homage, but it also feels so unnecessary

10. I wouldn't say it's an homage, more like an embarrassing parody
