[theqoo] THE GROWING PERCEPTION OF 'NUISANCE' LATELY, ESPECIALLY AMOUNG THE YOUTH TOWARDS THIS MILESTONE

"I'm having a hard time making ends meet..." The "first birthday party invitation" is becoming a nuisance.

Office worker Kim Chae-eun (27) recently received an invitation to a first birthday party from an acquaintance and was troubled by it. This was because she received the invitation from a friend with whom she had only occasionally contacted once or twice. Kim said, "It's something to celebrate, but honestly, I'm taken aback when they contacted me after such a long time and suddenly asked me to come to the first birthday party. It's a cause for celebration, but honestly, I'm taken aback," and confessed, "It's burdensome to invest my time and money in a first birthday party that has lost much of its meaning."

These days, first birthday parties are typically held solely with family, without inviting friends or family.

Occasionally, when invitations to first birthday parties are sent out, opinions are divided: some will naturally attend, while others find it inconvenient.

original post: here

1. It's such a nuisance

2. For real... I know some twins who were born and the parents were already making a fuss over invitations when it hasn't even been a month since the twins are out... I hasn't even been a month since I gave them their "birth" presents.. And this is even before they hit their 100 days f*ck ^^... There are people who invite you to a first birthday party even though you are not yet a family member...

3. I feel like the perception around it totally flipped after COVID right? I feel like even between family members, they don't exchange much words to each other anymore

4. Please just hold birthday parties among the immediate family

5. I'm a mom of a baby myself and even I dread doing those ㅎㅎ I just do things at super small scale within my family

6. It's not a nuisance at all, I want to see my friend's baby more ㅠㅠ I want to congratulate them for raising such a good kidㅠㅠ

7. I'm not married so I draw the line at just attending their wedding

8. Honestly why would I use my money on someone else's kid

9. I honestly hate attending those...

10. I just think "Why do I need to care about someone else's kid?"
