Harin recently appeared on the YouTube channel of Japanese actor Hiromitsu Takeda, where she talked about various aspects of her life in Korea. During the interview, she revealed that she was once a K-pop idol trainee.
Harin explained that she had to let go of her dream due to a sudden decision by the company just before her debut. “For two years, I trained like crazy from morning to night without even sleeping,” she said. “My parents were getting ready to sign the contract, and even the company’s CEO was saying things like, ‘Alright, let’s debut our Harin.’ Everything seemed set.”
She continued, “Then one day, they suddenly told me they were terminating the contract, and I was the only one who was told to leave. It was incredibly difficult. I had worked so hard and had come so far, I couldn’t understand why they were dropping me at that point.”
Harin added that she had to get on a flight back to Japan without even being able to say goodbye to her fellow trainees and friends.
Still, she reflected on the experience with maturity, saying, “Looking back now, I think that experience made me who I am today. It became a turning point that pushed me to work even harder.”
Born in 2003, Harin originally debuted in Japan as an early member of the local idol group Shibu3 Project. In 2020, she passed the Source Music audition under HYBE and joined the company. She later moved to ADOR and was part of the NewJeans pre-debut lineup. Since then, she has transitioned to working as a model and actress in Korea, where she continues her career.
