[theqoo] POLICE, CONDUCTS SEARCH AND SEIZURE IN G-DRAGON AND YG 'COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT' CASE

Police are reportedly investigating whether singer G-Dragon and Yang Hyunsuk, executive producer (and CEO) of YG Entertainment, violated copyright law.

According to police on the 12th, Seoul Mapo Police Station began an investigation after receiving a complaint last November from composer A, claiming that they had copied his song without permission.

It is reported that police have questioned those involved in the case and conducted two search and seizure operations at YG Entertainment’s headquarters.

1. ??

2. What???

3. A search and seizure? For a live album from 16 years ago?

4. Not surprised

5. This article came out earlier today, but people didn't really react as much as I expected

6. Are they saying those songs were stolen back then? Is that what this person is claiming?

7. Seeing the comments from earlier, the suspected contents seem to be from 2009. I wonder what came up for a search and seizure in 2025?

8. They say they filed a lawsuit over the live album from 16 years ago because it included the performance of "My Age is 13" from the concert. They claim they participated in composing "My Age is 13" but it was included in the album without their permission.

9. Looking at the more detailed article, it says they performed a song released in 2001 briefly as part of a medley with other songs during a 2009 concert -> that performance was released in 2010 as a concert live album -> and they didn't credit the composer for it. That's apparently the issue, so maybe that's why there’s not much reaction...?

10. People get searched for this?
