According to the analysis, over 7.5 billion won (5.3M USD) in spending occurred in Sokcho on the day of the festival. This represents a more than 23% increase compared to the previous week's 6 billion won (4.2M USD).
A total of 23,855 visitors came to the festival venue that day, and among them, non-locals accounted for about 80% of total spending, approximately 5.1 billion won (3.6M). Notably, residents of the Seoul metropolitan area made up 66.5% of the non-local visitors.
Since the performance ended late at night, 22.26% of non-local tourists were confirmed to have stayed in the city for more than 24 hours after the show.
This indicates that many tourists engaged in overnight or multi-night stays, showing the formation of a long-stay, accommodation-based consumption pattern.
Previously, the city recruited businesses to operate extended late-night hours in order to lengthen visitor stays and promote local spending. A total of 91 businesses participated in the extended hours, staying open past midnight to accommodate festivalgoers.
The city sees the data analysis as evidence that Psy’s "SUMMERSWAG" brought real vitality to the local economy and plans to actively incorporate the findings into future festival strategies and tourism policies.
Sokcho Mayor Lee Byeong-seon said, “This has developed beyond a simple performance by a famous artist into a cultural festival that involved the entire city,” adding, “We will strive to establish Sokcho as a model city for long-stay tourism.”

It's not like I particularly like the SUMMERSWAG,
But I really hope local governments pay more attention to how a single concert can energize an entire city and put more effort into building concert infrastructure, including performance venues, transportation, and accommodations… ㅠㅠ
When you look at Psy touring the country, he's doing it at stadium-level venues… ㅜㅜ
