If you look at the rookies the big 4 released:
HYBE: NewJeans, illit, Le Sserafim, CORTIS, boynextdoor
SM: RIIZE, Hearts2Hearts, NCT wish
JYP: NMIXX, KickFlip
YG: BABYMONSTER, MEOVV, ALLDAY PROJECT
only 2-3 are considered to have "made it", but if we're going to be honest, only NewJeans were the true successful rookie, with ADP being hit or miss esp overseas.
I miss the days when the big 3 (without HYBE) would release banger groups one after the other. Now, nothing seems interesting nor revolutionary. I wonder what's missing? maybe it's just kpop fatigue.
I know bgs have always had a hard time making it big, but I'm surprised that even girl groups are struggling. To be fair, I had high expectations for MEOVV but their songs just weren't it. I'm even surprised ADP made it.
Anyways, I'd like to know what you guys think. Is it the end to k-pop? are we going to have another revival? who will be the next big group? are they already here or do we need to wait for the next generation to come?
