[PC stories/Life] HAVING KIDS IS SO MUCH MORE SELFISH THAN NOT

I never understood when people would call childless people selfish for not having kids?

Because if anything, forcefully bringing someone into the world when they would most likely suffer unless you’re rich and/or benefit from having a privileged status in society is soooo very selfish. What if something happens to you and your partner and you leave the child alone in the world to fend for themselves? I’m not sure about other countries, but America doesn’t really offer the best support for orphans. That’s selfish.

I really hate how this can sound ableist and eugenic-y, especially considering this is something that can happen to anyone at anytime, but what if you bring a disabled child into the world? The world unfortunately isn’t built to accommodate them and their needs.

If anything, I see a good amount of able bodied people not really rallying for their rights. God forbid they’re mentally disabled, they’re treated as second class citizens and looked down on in society.

I also feel like it’s incredibly selfish to have a kid, and NOT do absolutely EVERYTHING in your power to support them in their endeavors. You quite literally owe children EVERYTHING after bringing them here without their consent (I’m aware sperm can’t consent).

Oh and having kids willy nilly without sorting out your own trauma, mental illness is literally genetic so if you’re depressed, have PTSD, anxiety, etc. that can be passed down! Your kid can literally just be born with it! Why would you subject them to the limitations that come with struggling from that!

Anyway, this was just a small rant because I’m sick of being told by my parents that I need to learn to cook and clean for my future husband and them going on about me having kids, I’m ending the bloodline!!
