"20-Year-Old Lottery Winner Chooses ‘$1,000 a Week for Life’ Over Lump Sum
Brenda Obeng-Vega, a 20-year-old living in Montreal, Canada, won the top prize on a scratch ticket she played during a work break.
She had the choice between a lump sum of about 1 million Canadian dollars (around 1 billion KRW) or $1,000 (about 1 million KRW) a week for life.
She chose the weekly payments over the lump sum, opting for guaranteed lifelong cash flow.
The news has sparked mixed reactions locally.
Some argue it was a “stupid choice” since investing a lump sum could yield bigger returns, and others point out she didn’t consider inflation.
On the other hand, many believe, “It’s a choice only possible at 20,” and say it’s “actually wise since she now has a guaranteed stable income for life.”"
I'm jealous...
original post: here
1. What's more is that she's only 20 y.oㅋㅋ I'm seriously jealousㅠㅠ
2. She's smart
3. What's the point of people who didn't win arguing with the winners about whether they got it right or not... *sneef sneef*, I'm so jealous
4. Even receiving that for over 20 years is a win
5. Receiving 1 million now can disappear in a day. She's actually smart
6. Must be nice~~
7. $1,000 per weekㅋㅋㅋㅋ That's freaking amazing
8. There are so many people ruining their lives after winning the lotto so this actually looks like a better choice
9. If she's 20, that's actually a smart choice. If she lives up to her full life expectancy, that's way more than receiving 1 million
10. I would've taken the 1 million
