[theqoo] "DJ KOO, GUARDING LATE WIFE BARBIE HSU'S GRAVE FOR 6 MONTHS"... LOCAL WITNESS ACCOUNTS EMERGE

Singer and DJ Koo Junyup (56) is reported to have been keeping watch at the grave of his late wife, Barbie Hsu (Xu Xi Yuan), for six months, according to local media and eyewitness testimonies.

On September 5, Sina Entertainment and other Taiwanese outlets shared posts on social media claiming that Koo Junyup has been staying by Barbie Hsu’s resting place at the Rose Garden Cemetery in Jinbaoshan, Taiwan.

According to one such post, a fan (A) who had traveled from Los Angeles to Taiwan to visit Barbie Hsu’s grave encountered Koo Junyup on the way.

Fan A shared, “At around 7 a.m., I saw Koo Junyup sitting alone in front of the grave, holding an iPad and carefully editing photos of Barbie Hsu.”

They added, “In front of the grave were flowers, a couple photo of the two taken during her lifetime, honey, and a sandwich.” These were all things Barbie Hsu loved when she was alive.

When the fan, overcome with emotion, accidentally let tears fall on the gravestone, Koo Junyup gently comforted them, saying, “It’s okay,” before wiping the gravestone himself. He then stepped aside and told the fan, “You can talk to her too,” showing his thoughtfulness.

This is not the first time accounts have surfaced of Koo Junyup spending long hours at Barbie Hsu’s gravesite. Witnesses say that since her burial in March, he has visited almost every day, sitting there for hours even in heavy rain.

It has been reported that in front of his wife’s tombstone, Koo Junyup often looks through old photos or watches Meteor Garden, the drama Barbie Hsu starred in during her lifetime.

Barbie Hsu passed away suddenly on February 2 during a family trip to Japan, due to influenza complicated by pneumonia. She had been active as an actress, singer, and TV host, and rose to pan-Asian fame in 2001 with Meteor Garden, a drama based on the Japanese manga Boys Over Flowers.

Koo Junyup and Barbie Hsu first met in the late 1990s and dated for two years before breaking up. Later, Barbie Hsu married Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei in 2011, but the couple divorced in 2021. Afterward, Koo Junyup reconnected with her, rekindling their romance, and the two married in 2022.
