With this year's Nobel Peace Prize announcement imminent, President Trump claimed it would be an insult to the United States if he were not awarded the prize.
In a speech to a gathering of generals and commanders from around the world, Trump noted that he had saved millions of lives by mediating conflicts. He then said, "They said they would give the Nobel Prize to someone who did nothing."
He then said, "We'll see what happens. It would be a great insult to our country."
In his keynote address to the UN General Assembly High-Level Session on the 23rd, President Trump also claimed he had ended seven wars and that "everyone says I should get a Nobel Prize."
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who previously had an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court on charges of war crimes, sent a letter to the Nobel Committee in July recommending President Trump for the Nobel Prize.
