[PC Stories/KPOP takes] KPOP IDOLS USING CHAT GPT

In his recent live Jungkook used chat gpt to ask a question about incense after one of the comments said something about it and he said something like "at times like these, we should ask chat gpt". I see most fans online treat this as something cute and relatable, which shouldn't be the case, because according to many recent studies, chat gpt is really harmful both to the environment and the brains of people who use it too much in everyday life. I'm not saying he is one of the people that use it too much, since I don't know him irl so there is no way for me to know, but honestly even using it at all and promoting it to an audience (millions of fans watching his live) isn't anything his fans should be proud of.

I noticed a lot of idols talk about using chat gpt and Jungkook using it on his live is just the most recent example which inspired me to write this post. I don't think he (or any idols who use it, since I noticed a lot of them do) should get hate for that, but this disappointed me, even though I know such a huge number of people is using chat gpt for everything and anything. I'm really against using it but it's been so normalized that I can't blame people for using it, but I do side-eye them. I don't use it and I never installed it, but I know many people irl who use it and I'm still friends with them even though I do occasionally call them out for relying on chat gpt too much.

Generative AI can also be very harmful for celebrities since it's unfortunately very easy to use it for thing that are morally wrong such as deep-fakes. I don't understand how so many people and idols can use it, while knowing how destructive it can really be.

Soobin from TXT mentioned he is using chat gpt like he is raising pet, and I remember San from Ateez also saying something similar. Again, I'm not trying to hate on any of these idols I mentioned, they are just examples that came to mind as I was writing this.

I remember Tzuyu from Twice said that AI is advanced and can be convenient, but we should be careful how we use it and cautious when using it, which is true because not all AI is bad.

The only idol I remember openly being against using chat gpt is Yeonjun from TXT. Yeonjun said he's never used chat gpt and he wants to try not using it as much as possible. He said he doesn't want to rely on it as someone who is doing something creative. Actually, he said this in the same live in which Soobin revealed he's treating chat gpt like it's a pet.

Please comment about other idols who have mentioned they use chat gpt, and about those who spoke about using it responsibly or not at all, if you can remember any.

The excessive use of chat gpt has unfortunately already been normalized, but that doesn't mean it should be glorified or seen as something essential. If you can, please try not to use it too much for your own sake and for the sake of the planet.
