The title pretty much said everything, so I won't write too much, but it's crazy how common and normalized these two are. Why have we as a society decided that these are basically essential in most social events? Both are very harmful and unhealthy and also don't impact mental health in any positive way. I get that it's fun for some people, but why do some of those people basically judge those who don't drink or smoke? I don't drink or smoke and I don't expect a medal for that but it's also annoying how some people side-eye me for that. It's my choice, so I hate when people are like "Come on, at least have one drink" "Why don't you drink?", would it be alright if I asked them "Why do you drink?" or "At least don't drink that much" - of course not because it's none of my business whether someone drinks/smokes or not - its's their choice. Most of my friends are non-smokers and they feel the same way as I do, so I know I'm not the only one who feels this way but yesterday I was at a gathering where I was one of the 2 people that didn't drink or smoke and so many people were being annoying about it which inspired me to write this.
Don't even get me started on the glorification of smoking, excessive drinking and vapes too.
And don't even think about commenting something like "you people just hate fun", it's fine if you wanna use alcohol/cigarettes to "have fun", like I said everyone has the right to choose.
I just think that most people don't even have the slightest clue just how much damage these can do to a person's body and mind.
