[theqoo] 93 Y'O DOCTOR WANTS TO HAVE A 2ND CHILD WITH HIS 37 Y'O WIFE ... "I WANT A DAUGHTER NOW"

A 93-year-old Australian man has revealed that he and his 37-year-old wife are planning for their second child, sparking widespread attention.

The couple previously welcomed their first son in February last year.

If they successfully have another child, it could potentially break a Guinness World Record.

According to foreign media including the Daily Mail, Dr. John Leving, a 93-year-old general practitioner in Melbourne, Australia, announced that he is planning for a second child. His wife is Dr. Lu Yangying, a Chinese native who is 56 years his junior, currently 37 years old.

Dr. Leving was born in the 1930s and is an expert who has long studied healthy aging.

His first wife, Veronica, with whom he spent 57 years, passed away in 2013.

They had three children together. Their eldest son, Greg, sadly passed away in 2024 at the age of 65 due to ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease).

After losing his first wife, Dr. Leving began studying Chinese, during which he met Dr. Lu, who was his teacher. The two fell in love and got married in Las Vegas in 2014.

Ten years later, the couple welcomed their first son, Gabi. Dr. Leving described it as an "unbelievable miracle" and said their son was born after a long journey involving sperm donation and IVF (in vitro fertilization).

He shared that his goal is to celebrate Gabi's 21st birthday with him, expressing his determination to fully embrace his role as a father despite his age.

The couple is now planning to have a second child.

In an interview, Dr. Leving said, "I want a daughter," and revealed they have begun another round of IVF.

However, Dr. Lu expressed a more cautious stance, saying they are "still discussing it."

Originally, Dr. Lu had no plans to have children, but the COVID-19 pandemic changed her perspective.

She explained, “If I were to lose him, I wanted to have a part of him to keep,” and added, “It was truly lucky that I got pregnant on the first try.”

Responding to public scrutiny about their age gap, Dr. Lu dismissed accusations of financial motives, saying, “When I met him, he was bankrupt.” She emphasized, “Our relationship is based on love.”

She also mentioned that people often mistake their son Gabi for Dr. Leving’s grandson or even great-grandson.

“When I explain, people are surprised, but what matters to us is that we made a happy choice,” she said, adding, “We can’t control how others see us.”

She concluded, “Nowadays, families come in many different forms, and they all live well. I believe we can too.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Leving has 10 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter from his first marriage.

For the past 20 years, he has advised patients on healthy aging, and personally, he has maintained his health by taking growth hormone injections for 30 years, following a mostly vegetarian diet, abstaining from alcohol and smoking, and exercising regularly.
