CBX expresses frustration, claiming SM Entertainment is delaying agreement for EXO’s full-group activities
The group CBX (Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin) expressed open dissatisfaction, saying that although they have been working hard for EXO’s full-group activities, the process of reaching an agreement has been delayed due to SM Entertainment.
On the 29th, CBX's agency INB100 stated, “We sincerely apologize to fans for the confusion and concern caused by the delayed announcement regarding CBX's participation in EXO’s full-group activities. INB100 and our artists Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin have promised fans to take part in EXO’s complete-group promotions and have been making every effort to fulfill that promise.”
They also shared a detailed timeline of developments, written entirely from their perspective. According to them, on July 9, 2025, they confirmed their initial intent to reach an agreement with SM Entertainment, saying, “We met directly with SM to confirm our shared direction and determination to reach an agreement for EXO’s full-group activities.”
They added that on September 10, 2025, both sides “shared specific terms of the agreement,” explaining, “The two parties exchanged concrete details and entered a stage of substantive negotiation.” However, after the second mediation session on October 2, CBX said they had “fully accepted all of SM’s demands and clearly communicated their intention to settle,” in order to enable EXO’s year-end full-group comeback.
They further explained that they had prioritized EXO’s activities above all else, clearing their personal schedules for December and waiting for SM’s final response through their legal representative. However, while they were making such efforts for EXO’s full-group promotions, they claim they suddenly encountered notices about an EXO fan meeting and a full album release that excluded CBX.
They added, “We apologize for the delay in our response while trying to understand SM’s intentions regarding the progress of the agreement in this unexpected situation. The CBX members have always cherished their fans’ sincerity above all and have longed deeply for EXO’s full-group activities, which is why they chose the path of reaching an agreement. Accordingly, we plan to finalize the agreement for EXO’s full-group promotions as soon as possible.”
The background behind CBX's statement appears to be influenced by reports on the 28th, revealing that CBX's lost their lawsuits against SM Entertainment regarding unprovided financial settlement data and unfair contract claims.
