On October 2, at the YouTube channel “The Advance of the High-Ranking (진격의고변)” run by lawyer Go Sang‑rok of the law firm Pil (Kim Soohyun’s legal representative), a post was uploaded titled: “Actor Kim Soohyun Case: The Essence of This Case Is Evidence Manipulation.”
Go Sang‑rok stated that “the core of this case is the perpetrator’s manipulation of evidence,” arguing that the perpetrator presented photos from when both were adults as if they were proof of a relationship when one was a m*nor, whereas all publicly revealed photos are from 2019 or later, when they were university students. He also responded to claims that the perpetrator had “thousands of photos” by saying, “In the past six months, not a single additional photo has been submitted. Nor will any more be submitted, because they don’t exist.” He emphasized that “Actor Kim Soohyun never had a romantic relationship with the deceased during her m*nor years. As he has said himself, what wasn’t done, wasn’t done.”
According to Go Sang‑rok, as the perpetrator’s additional offenses are being uncovered, the scope of investigation is expanding and getting prolonged. He said, “Meanwhile, the perpetrator continuously repeats harmful acts based on manipulated materials. This delays the victim’s recovery of rights. The victim is trapped in deep helplessness. The misunderstandings accumulated by manipulated evidence are not cleared, and the victim must wait indefinitely for the outcomes of investigation and trial.” He added: “The reality that the victim must publicly release even deeply personal diaries and letters to explain himself is heartbreaking not only for the actor but also for his legal representatives. The emotional toll on the actor and his family is likely so deep and painful that it’s hard even to imagine.”
First, Go Sang‑rok addressed a handwritten letter Kim Soohyun sent during his military service to the deceased, saying: “That one letter Kim Soohyun sent while serving is merely a reflection of daily life, resolve, post-discharge plans and determination, like an essay, and not evidence of a romantic relationship. After entering the military, the actor devoted himself sincerely to maintaining the relationship with his partner. Like many others, he appreciated a partner who waited for her soldier boyfriend. Before a leave, he always looked forward to seeing her. During a leave, he shared small moments with her and focused on their relationship.”
He went on to describe that in June 2018, when the letter was written, Kim Soohyun was about to take leave (starting June 18, for four days). The actor was full of expectation to meet his partner during that leave and have small dates. But ordinary things like going to a movie together during leave were extremely difficult for him; he even wrote in his diary that doing so felt like risking his life. He also revealed portions of the actor’s military‑era diary, citing entries from June 9, 11, 12, 13, 18, 22, in which the actor apparently consistently treated his romantic interest sincerely, showed no interest in others of the opposite gender, and shared that their relationship was just that of colleagues and acquaintances, with no special emotional involvement.
Go Sang‑rok further stated that Kim Saeron visited the actor’s family home (where Kim Soohyun’s family lived) on one day of a leave period. The house was registered in the actor’s name and had long been occupied by his older brother (and family). During Kim Soohyun’s military service, his brother lived alone in that house for two years, and whenever the actor had leave he'd stay there. His brother had lived there from October 2013 to January 2024 as the head of the household. The brother had acted as a partner and mentor to the actor from the early days of his career: guiding him in selecting works, setting character direction, and helping with acting decisions. Under his brother’s support and judgment, the actor was able to focus on acting and chose major works such as The Moon That Embraces the Sun, My Love from the Star, The Thieves, Secret Reunion, etc.
During the leave visit, the deceased reportedly spent time in (Kim Soohyun's) home, conversed with the actor and his brother (who was present), and discussed her career and acting plans. Go Sang‑rok claimed it was not a scheduled meeting, just that their schedules aligned. He described how it was natural for the actor’s acquaintances to visit that home, which had a living room, a reception area, and space for entertaining friends, given the constraints public figures face in meeting people outside.
Go Sang‑rok argued that because public figures have limited freedom in outside activities, they tend to host visits in their homes instead of meeting in public. He said the actor’s home was built with reception areas suitable for inviting guests. He insisted that the June 9, 2018 letter doesn’t mention a meeting plan during leave, which is understandable if the meeting was not prearranged. The letter primarily reflects impressions of nature, resolve for military life, affection, and post-discharge plans. He contrasted this with other personal writings in which the actor regularly expressed longing to communicate with his romantic interest and looked forward to small moments during leave.
He claimed the public interpretation of a single line of the letter as an expression of romantic interest is inconsistent with the broader context of the actor’s own records.
He lamented that private writings are being exposed in such a dispute to recover his honor. He said it’s extremely unusual and difficult for someone to have to explain trivial personal matters by submitting them to legal documents and the public. He went on to mention that verifying claims required looking through real estate registrations and household registration records to cross-check facts, which as a legal professional is something he never expected to have to do over trivial matters. He said even while writing the statement, his mind was filled with complexity. He emphasized again how malicious acts can manipulate evidence, create false claims, incite public opinion, degrade an innocent person’s character, and repeatedly push public figures into extreme situations, and that this is a grave social mechanism.
Finally, Go Sang‑rok reiterated: “The essence of this case is ‘evidence manipulation.’ In a case that has become publicly debated, correcting a crime like this is an important first step toward victim recovery and social justice. Please keep sustained interest in this matter and observe this until the actor’s harm is fully recompensed.”

1. So there are still so many people who don't want to give up on him
2. He wrote "It’s hard to see your face, so I can’t really pressure you about how you’re feeling or what you want… but the one thing I can say is: I miss you."
And you’re telling me that’s something you said without any emotion...? Do you think I’m stupid?"
3. We're not asking you to reveal your letter to your actual lover, but we need to compare how you would write to your "acquaintances" compared to the letters you sent to Saeron
4. I feel like Garosero fabricating news is the biggest problem
5. The boy crazies are crawling out again
6. Turns out all the evidence was fabricated and used for manipulation. All that’s left is the official police statement. I hope this ends soon
7. No feelings, but you still ate her chicken stew...?
8. Does it make sense to act like you did towards a m*nor when you had no feelings for her????
9. Who says ‘I miss you, but I don’t want to pressure you about how you feel’ when they "don't" have feelings? Even without a subject, it reads like a love letter
10. What a load of bullsh*t
