The list of nominees for the 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards, the ‘festival of cinema,’ was unveiled on the 21st. Director Park Chan-wook's ‘No Other Choice’ leads with nominations in 12 categories, drawing attention as to whether it will become this year's Blue Dragon star.
The 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards finalized the final nominees for 15 categories (excluding the Most Audience Award and the Cheongjeongwon Popular Star Award), including Best Picture, Director, and Leading Actor/Actress, through expert panel and first-round netizen voting conducted from October 1st to 19th.
Competing for the Best Picture award, which crowns the year's finest Korean film, are five titles: ‘No Other Choice’, ‘The Ugly’, ‘My Daughter Is a Zombie’, ‘The Old Woman With The Knife’, and ‘Harbin’. With films boasting both artistic merit and popular appeal lining up for the awards, interest in the final results is intense. Notably, Park Chan-wook's ‘No Other Choice’ proved its artistic and popular appeal, securing the most nominations with 12 categories.
Following closely, the art-house sensation ‘The Ugly’ received 10 nominations, ‘Harbin’ received 8, and ‘My Daughter Is a Zombie’ and ‘High Five’ each received 6 nominations, completing a balanced slate of nominees that blends diverse genres and generations. Additionally, numerous films recognized for fresh approaches and distinctive direction were included, reflecting the expanded spectrum of Korean cinema captured by this year's Blue Dragon Film Awards.
