[theqoo] STARSHIP FILES TRADEMARK REGISTRATION CANCELLATION LAWSUIT AGAINST PERSON DOING BUSINESS UNDER THE NAME OF 'IVE LEATHER GOODS' SINCE 2019

#IVE(2019) vs IVE(2021)

Starship Entertainment has filed a petition with the Korean Intellectual Property Office requesting the cancellation of the trademark "Ive Leather Goods" (@ive_1972), which includes my English name and was registered before the debut of the group IVE. Haha....

My trademark "Ive Leather Goods" was registered in 2019 across four product categories, whereas the group IVE debuted in 2021. The English name "Ive" was given to me by my English mentor when I was young, and I've been using "Ive" in all my English-language social media accounts even before the group's debut. I officially registered my business in 2015, completed all trademark registrations by 2019, and if you search for "Ive Leather Goods" or "Ive Gajukgongbang (Leather Workshop)," you can find public records of exhibitions and collaborations with public institutions. So I really wonder why this petition was filed.

This brand carries on the legacy of the workshop my parents used to run. Even if I'm not currently operating it, I feel the need to protect the brand. This whole situation feels so surreal... Is this really happening? If anyone else out there has a registered trademark like mine, I want to share the developments going forward for the sake of public interest. What an ordeal...
