[theqoo] 'SUPERMAN RETURNS' SUNGMIN "FIRST IDOL MARRIAGE, I HAD NOTHING TO STAND ON, IT WAS SCARY"

Sungmin appeared on the special broadcast of KBS 2TV's “The Return of Superman” aired on the afternoon of the 7th. Sungmin, who had enjoyed immense popularity as a member of an idol group, shared his past, reddening his eyes as he recounted how, after choosing love and marriage, he became embroiled in numerous rumours and was unable to work for ten years.

Sungmin recalled, ‘I never once confided my true feelings to those around me. As I was the first idol to marry, I initially worried fans would be shocked and agonised over how to tell them. But once rumours spread and articles appeared, I couldn't respond.’

He confessed, ‘As the rumours grew and I saw countless malicious comments, it felt like people were insulting me and viewing me negatively. I couldn't say anything and just stayed at home. I had no other job besides being a singer, and it felt terrifying that I was gradually losing my place.’

Having chosen marriage, Sungmin endured a lengthy hiatus, unable to work for ten years. He expressed guilt that his wife had become the breadwinner, supporting the family. Kim Sa-eun, too, showed consideration for Sungmin, saying, ‘My husband must have suffered more than I did. I felt sorry and upset that I seemed to have caused him harm.’

Then, after ten years of marriage, Sungmin prepared for a fresh leap as a trot singer upon the miraculous arrival of his son, Doyoon. To learn from the ground up, he sought out trot composer Lee Hoseop's singing class, training diligently for four years before becoming his prized pupil.

Stepping onto the stage with courage for his son and wife, Sungmin shared, ‘I hope the day comes when Doyoon, having grown up strong and healthy, watches my stage and tells me it was impressive. Though I'm a singer with 20 years of experience, I'm a rookie trot singer starting anew. Please don't hate me too much, I hope you'll look kindly upon me and show me lots of love.’

1. Ok.....

2. Where's the shame?

3. There's a reason you've been hailed as a legend for over a decade. You could simply say you were sorry back then and show everyone you're living happily now. Why go out of your way to do something like pretending to be the victim?

4. Let's just all walk our different path now.. I don't understand why he keeps on coming back... It was you who refused to talk back then, wasn't it?

5. ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

6. Wasn't there a famous gif back then from foreign fans hating on Korean fans? They should've kept their basic manners first...

7. Wow, I just feel bad for the Superman fans

8. I remember how he created so much buzz for deceiving the fans

9. I'm more surprised that he's still in Suju. Didn't he leave? Then that means that as long as he's there, a share of the income will go to himã„·ã„·

10. ã…‹ã…‹ He was the one using his fansite masters and then picking fights with them, and who chose to marry his wife. Geez
