On the 18th, W Korea issued a statement to Top Star News addressing allegations related to donation amounts from its breast cancer awareness campaign.
W Korea explained, "The donation amounts for W Korea’s breast cancer awareness campaign consist of funds directly donated by W Korea and additional contributions made directly to the foundation by participating companies and individuals, based on their own decision. These donations are used at the foundation’s discretion for related projects." They also disclosed the detailed breakdown of the donations.
They further clarified, "Since our first collaboration with the Korea Breast Health Foundation in 2006, and except for the years 2007 to 2009 when donations were made to a different foundation, the campaign has been conducted in the same manner up to the current year, 2025. All donations made through both methods have been mutually verified." They also confirmed that "the data submitted by the Korea Breast Health Foundation to the Ministry of Health and Welfare aligns with this."
Regarding reports that approximately 300 million won (~220K USD) has been donated over 17 years, W Korea stated, "That amount only reflects the donations W Korea directly delivered to the Korea Breast Health Foundation."
They explained that the data received by Rep. Lee Soo-jin of the Democratic Party, a member of the National Assembly’s Health and Welfare Committee, from the Ministry of Health and Welfare does not include donations made by companies and individuals who participated in the campaign.
They added that from 2007 to 2009, donations were made not to the Korea Breast Health Foundation but to the Seoul branch of the Korea Population, Health, and Welfare Association, and thus those records are not reflected in the current data.
W Korea emphasized, "If we include the amounts directly donated by companies and individuals that were omitted from the report, as well as the donations made to the Korea Population, Health, and Welfare Association during those three years, the total cumulative donations from 2006 to 2024 amount to 960 million won, not 300 million. Including the 150 million won to be donated in 2025, the total for the 20-year campaign would be 1.1 billion won (750K USD)."
Previously, Rep. Lee Soo-jin had revealed data submitted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare showing that W Korea had donated a total of 315.69 million won to the Korea Breast Health Foundation between 2007 and November of this year, which had raised questions regarding the transparency of the donation amounts

"W Korea has been steadily running a breast cancer awareness campaign with the slogan 'LOVE YOUR W' since 2006. Every October, it holds a charity event and donates the proceeds to a project that provides free breast cancer screening and support for surgery and treatment costs for low-income individuals."
3. Are they not aware that they should be embarrassed of the 1.1 billion amount?
