[theqoo] XG'S AGENCY CEO SHAVES HIS HEAD AHEAD OF THEIR FIRST FULL ALBUM RELEASE

We interview XG Executive Producer JAKOPS (SIMON) about the group's next chapter and why the new album will be 'the best album in the world'.

...

XG's music captures both mainstream pop and underground sensibilities. Ever since Madonna's "Vogue," their relationship has been a mixture of collaboration and tension. How do you see that dynamic reflected in XG?

I don't think about genre or what's mainstream or not. My only criteria is whether the music is good. Rather than chasing what's already popular, I want to be someone who brings new ideas to the mainstream. We draw inspiration from everywhere: clubs, rock, J-pop, Latin, K-pop, hip-hop, jazz, classical, traditional music, and more.

Consider, for example, the music for Katsuhiro Otomo's animated film AKIRA. Many associate it with a distinctly Japanese vision of the future: the nightscape of Neo-Tokyo, with motorcycles racing across it. But the soundtrack actually blends a completely different culture, using Balinese instruments. While it looks and feels very Japanese, it has elements of other cultures underneath. I really enjoy that hybrid feel.

original post: here

2. Omo that's Simon from Dalmatian!! So he became a CEO?

3. That guy used to be an idol...

4. But that agency hates Korea no? Screw off

5. Oh as expected from those Xpop guys

6. Looks like they're going all out like that

7. Just why...? Please grow Cocona's hair

8. Why are we always posting about them? They hate Korea and they're trashes using K-pop for recognition. Why are we promoting foreigners using Korean agencies ã…‹ã…‹

9. Oh so that's the Korean guy giving out songs to Japanese singers! I liked the songs he made for my bias but.. I didn't know he became a CEO

10. They really hate Korea. Even their fans are always dragging Kpop meanwhile praising XG. If you read the comments on their Youtube videos, there's so many people swearing at Kpop ã…‹ Their fans, agency and members are all the same. Hating Korea
