EXO’s agency SM Entertainment refutes CBX's statement

SM Entertainment (hereafter “SM”) has responded to CBX's recent position statement.

On the 29th, SM stated, “We have made it clear to the three members that the settlement of the dispute and participation in group activities are separate matters.”

Earlier, CBX's agency, INB100, released a statement saying, “For the sake of EXO’s full-group activities, we accepted all conditions presented by SM after the second mediation session and clearly conveyed our intent to reach an agreement. We cleared our personal schedules for December and have been waiting for SM’s final response. With a sincere desire to see EXO promote as a complete group, we plan to finalize the agreement as soon as possible.”

Hello, this is SM Entertainment.

We would like to address the statement released by Byun Baekhyun, Kim Jongdae, and Kim Minseok (hereafter “the three members”).

We have already made it clear to the three members that the settlement of the dispute and participation in group activities are separate issues.

First, regarding the dispute, SM has prevailed in all related cases so far. Accordingly, the only thing we requested from the three members was the payment of 10% of their individual activity revenue, as stipulated in the existing agreement dated June 18, 2023. However, this has not yet been fulfilled.

Furthermore, concerning participation in group activities, due to the excessive number of disputes that have significantly eroded mutual trust, and given the harm caused to EXO as a group as well as the pain inflicted on fans and fellow members, it was reasonable that the three members should first fulfill the existing agreement and make sincere efforts to restore trust.

However, contrary to their claim that they accepted all of SM’s proposed terms and clearly expressed their intent to settle after the second mediation session on October 2, they filed an objection on the 16th. We cannot help but express deep regret over today’s statement from the three members, which distorts these circumstances.

SM will do its utmost to support and prepare for EXO’s activities starting in December.
