A Japanese woman in her 50s accused of forcibly m*l*st*ng Jin (real name Kim Seok-jin), a member of the group BTS (BTS), has been referred to trial without detention.
According to legal circles on the 18th, the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors’ Office indicted without detention a female suspect, A, on the 12th over charges of forced m*l*st*t**n.
A is accused of forcibly kissing Jin’s cheek during a “Free Hug” event for fans held at Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Songpa-gu, Seoul, on June 13 of last year. At the time, controversy arose over alleged SH after a video posted on social media showed Jin making a troubled expression in response to A’s actions.
In response, some BTS fans filed a petition through the e-People petition portal, urging an investigation into A for alleged SH in a crowded public space.
The Songpa Police Station booked A and requested her to appear for questioning but decided to suspend the investigation last March, as it was expected to take a significant amount of time. A voluntarily appeared at the police station for questioning, and the police referred the case to prosecutors after determining the charges were valid.
