1. This is just sad
G-Dragon filled half of his performance with AR.
At the 2025 MAMA Awards held on the 29th at Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Stadium, G-Dragon appeared on stage performing “Drama,” a track from Übermensch, released last February.
After G-Dragon sang “Drama” in front of a massive white platform, world-renowned beatboxer Wing joined him on stage. Using only his mouth, Wing recreated the backing tracks of G-Dragon’s hit songs “Crooked” and “Crayon,” over which G-Dragon’s vocals were layered.
G-Dragon then performed “Heartbreaker,” the title track of his 2009 solo debut studio album, for the first time in a long while. He repeatedly stopped singing mid-performance, struggled to hit the high notes, and did not dance the full choreography. He only performed a few key moves, with most of the music filled in by AR.
The real issue came with “Untitled, 2014,” released in 2017. After the dancers cleared the stage, G-Dragon stood alone, holding a stand microphone and singing.
During the song, he untied his bow tie, unbuttoned his dress shirt, and even removed and reinserted his in-ear monitors, appearing restless throughout the performance. His real voice was barely audible the entire time; the audience practically had to strain their ears to hear him.
Meanwhile, comments on Naver TV’s real-time chat included: “I’m a GD fan too, but today was definitely a disaster,” “I’m a real GD fan, but today wasn’t it,” “Guess even GD can’t carry MAMA anymore,” “He probably knows it himself,” “He’s sweating a ton and looks in bad condition, and the sound isn’t good either,” and “Can he even do an encore concert with that vocal condition?”
