[theqoo] [EXCLUSIVE] MIN HEEJIN'S NEW KATALKS REVEALED IN COURT, REVEALING SHE WANTED TO "DIG THROUGH SLACK TO FIND DIRT ON XX"

Following the release of previous KakaoTalk messages, the corporate messenger platform Slack has now also been dragged into the spotlight due to Min Heejin. Newly revealed KakaoTalk messages show that former ADOR CEO Min Heejin instructed a subordinate to search the company’s internal messenger (Slack) for potential flaws or incriminating information about several popular artists under HYBE. The revelation is expected to cause significant repercussions.

The messages in question were cited in the written judgment of the first trial in a lawsuit ADOR filed on October 30 against the five members of NewJeans, seeking confirmation of the validity of their exclusive contracts. The case ended in ADOR’s favor, and the ruling can also be accessed through LBOX, South Korea’s largest legal information platform.

According to the ruling, while serving as ADOR’s CEO, Min told an employee:

“See if there’s any basis to file a lawsuit for obstruction of business, whether it’s a Fair Trade Act violation, a Commercial Act violation, breach of trust, anything. Find it,”
and also said,
“Let’s look for more evidence wherever we can. This is your only task,”
“You did well, but try to find something more decisive. The more, the better.”

During this process, Min reportedly explicitly named several HYBE artists and instructed the employee to search the company’s internal Slack messages for anything that could be used against them.

The judgment notes in detail that Min said to an employee:
“Since you found that much on Slack, there must be more about XX, or XX, or XX, something else must be there. You can’t erase old Slack messages.”

Slack, a widely used enterprise communication platform, is reportedly still used internally at HYBE for work communication.

The court viewed these newly disclosed KakaoTalk messages, which reference Slack, as evidence that Min had engaged in premeditated efforts to generate negative sentiment against ADOR’s parent company, HYBE. This finding also cast doubt on the NewJeans members’ claims that ADOR had failed to fulfill its contractual obligations.

Specifically, the court stated:
“The reasons cited by the defendants (NewJeans) for the plaintiff’s (ADOR’s) alleged non-performance appear to be the result of Min Hee-jin’s prior actions, namely, meticulously examining materials among HYBE, ADOR, and the defendants to find elements that could be used to create negative public opinion about HYBE and support a lawsuit.”

Meanwhile, legal experts noted the irony that Min’s own attempts to uncover possible ‘obstruction of business, violations of the Commercial Act, or breach of trust’ by others could now expose her to those same legal risks.

One legal insider commented:
“Even based solely on these actions, ADOR and its parent company HYBE could hold Min criminally and civilly liable for a range of offenses, including breach of trust in the course of duty, unlawful use of personal information under the Personal Information Protection Act, misappropriation of trade secrets under the Unfair Competition Prevention Act, abuse of authority under the Criminal Code, and defamation.”
