Attorney Go Sang-rok from Phil Law Firm, representing actor Kim Soohyun, released a statement on the 12th saying,
"There are no thousands of photos. It's only natural. they simply do not and cannot exist."
He continued,
"Regarding the ski resort photos that Garo Sero Research Institute (Gaseyeon) claimed were taken when the deceased (Kim Saeron) was a minor, attorney Bu Ji-seok (representing the bereaved family) said he never told Gaseyeon that those were photos from her MN years.”
Kim Soohyun's side also stated,
"As for the photo showing Kim Soohyun and the deceased with their faces close together, attorney Bu reportedly said, 'That picture was already made public before I became the family's legal representative, so I have nothing to say about it.'
The family supposedly believed that the photo, taken when the deceased was a university sophomore, was from her first year of high school, which, as we've repeatedly said, is simply not reasonable."
Regarding the 2016 KakaoTalk message "When can I fall asleep in your arms?", Kim's side said there is no evidence that the sender was Kim Soohyun, noting that the only source is the claim from the deceased's younger sibling. They also refuted the 2018 KakaoTalk message "If you're not going to try, oppa..." saying, again, there is no proof it was from Kim Soohyun.
Kim's representatives stated there were no additional letters beyond the military letter that was already made public. The so-called "internet letters," they explained, were not sent externally by soldiers, but were public fan letters sent to soldiers. They emphasized,
"Kim Soohyun never sent any personal emails to the deceased during his military service."
They also denied the existence of the "September 2017 personal note" allegedly written by the deceased, saying,
"It doesn't mention who it's about. The phrase 'someone about to enlist' could just as easily refer to someone studying abroad or training overseas."
They added that the supposed letter "has no evidentiary value" and if posthumous fabrication is found, it would itself be grounds for arrest.
Regarding the family’s claim that “Kim Sae-ron attempted self-harm on January 8,” Kim’s side said,
"At that time, the deceased was in the U.S. completing marriage registration procedures."
Most notably, Kim Soohyun's team stressed,
"The bereaved family has never claimed that Kim Saeron's death was caused by Kim Soohyun, nor do they believe so now."
They added, "If so, it means Gaseyeon's claims directly contradict the family's, yet we've heard of no attempt to question them about this."
Regarding the 2022 alcohol party invitation titled 'All you need is your body + alcohol', Kim's team said,
"The deceased personally sent those invitations. There is no evidence that any other friend created them."
They further revealed that,
"Before the penalty negotiations were finalized, the deceased left the country on September 12 for a long trip to Europe without notifying the agency, planning to return on October 1. Around that time, the agency and manager received multiple reports of her attending drinking gatherings, and after much deliberation, decided not to renew her contract after it expired later that year."
Kim's side also addressed the 'deleted photo incident' in March 2024, when Kim Saeron uploaded a picture of Kim Soohyun and then deleted it.
"The company perceived it as an act of blackmail. Although the company never expected to recover the 700 million won she owed, after that incident, it decided to completely forgive the debt."
They added,
"The deceased's 'plan that could not fail' succeeded without exception. Afterward, she grew anxious about the possibility that a false statement, allegedly written with someone's help, might be released publicly, and she kept it under close watch until the end."
Finally, Kim's side stated,
"One year later, the deceased passed away. Then, as if someone had long anticipated and waited for that outcome, Gaseyeon released everything, the fabricated statement, the fake unsent handwritten letter, and the 2020 cheek-kiss photo taken on the same day."
They concluded by noting that,
"Even last week, Kim Se-eui of Gaseyeon repeated the false claim that 'actor Kim Soohyun drove Kim Saeron to her d**th,' despite the family having clearly denied it."
