They were accused of demanding money from Son last June by threatening to expose him, claiming she was “pregnant with his child” and sending fetal ultrasound photos.
Yang received 300 million won from Son’s side and even signed a confidentiality agreement that set damages at 3 billion won (2M USD). However, together with her romantic partner Yong, she attempted to extort an additional 70 million won (47K USD) between March and May of this year by threatening to reveal the alleged pregnancy and abortion to the media and Son’s family.
According to the prosecution’s investigation, Yang initially attempted to demand money from another man by informing him of her pregnancy, but when he did not respond, she abandoned the attempt. She then claimed to Son’s side that she was pregnant with his child and demanded money. Son’s side, fearing damage to his public reputation and athletic career, gave her 300 million won, which she took.
Yang squandered all the money on luxury goods and fell into financial hardship. It was then found that, with the help of her romantic partner Yong, she attempted once again to extort money from Son.
