An entertainment industry insider revealed to Sports Chosun on the 17th, “Yoo Ah-in is returning with director Jang Jaehyun's new film ‘Vampire’.”

Director Jang Jae-hyun's new project ‘Vampire’ is a vampire film. It is anticipated to expand the occult universe previously explored by Director Jang in films like ‘The Priests’, ‘Svaha’, and ‘Exhuma’, generating significant public interest.

Jang Jaehyun previously discussed the project in interviews with overseas media. Director Jang stated, “We're in the early stages of developing an original Korean story using vampires as the subject. It was inspired by Bram Stoker's classic novel ‘Dracula.’ I want to make a vampire film set against the backdrop of the Russian Orthodox Church,” adding that he expects the screenplay to take two years to write and the final work to be released in four years.

'Vampire' is scheduled to begin filming in the second half of next year.

Through this project, Yoo Ah-in will return to acting after approximately three years. Yoo Ah-in faced non-custodial indictment and trial from September 2020 to March 2022 on charges including illegal administration of propofol, illegal prescription of sleeping pills, and smoking mar*j**na in the United States in January 2022. In 2024, Yoo Ah-in was sentenced to one year in prison and fined 2 million won, and was detained in court. His sentence was later finalized by the Supreme Court as one year in prison, suspended for two years, and a fine of 2 million won.
