Entertainer Jo Seho is leaving one of the programs he appears on.

On the 9th, his agency A2Z Entertainment stated, “Jo Seho will be stepping down from tvN’s You Quiz on the Block and KBS2’s 1 Night 2 Days.”

Jo Seho will be stepping down from tvN’s You Quiz on the Block and KBS2’s 2 Days & 1 Night.

Jo Seho feels a deep sense of responsibility regarding the misunderstandings and controversy raised about him recently. First, he is fully aware of the discomfort felt by the viewers who love these programs. He also does not want the production staff, who create these shows with their sweat and effort, to feel burdened because of the attention directed at him. After discussing with the production teams, he has decided to voluntarily step down.

Jo Seho and our agency plan to respond more seriously to this matter. We will proceed with swift and strong legal action to resolve the misunderstandings surrounding him and to restore his damaged reputation. We promise to clear all suspicions raised so far and return in a healthy state.

As we stated previously, Jo Se-ho has no involvement whatsoever with Mr. Choi’s business, which has been mentioned in the rumors. We also reiterate that the claim he received money or valuables from Mr. Choi for promotional purposes is clearly untrue.

Lastly, Jo Seho is deeply grateful for the sincere concern and words of comfort from many people regarding this situation. He also values the sharp criticism, taking it as an opportunity for self-reflection. He will work hard to bring healthier laughter in the future. Jo Se Ho is facing a wave of online allegations linking him to an individual accused of operating illegal businesses and engaging in money laundering. The claims were posted by an Instagram account known for sharing anonymous reports related to alleged illegal lending, financial fraud, and other criminal activities.

On November 29, the account uploaded a photo of Jo Se Ho promoting a restaurant franchise that the poster asserted is “effectively owned” by an individual identified as Mr. Choi, whom the poster described as the leader of a regional organized-crime group. The caption suggested that Jo Se Ho frequently visited the establishment.

In another post shared the same day, the user alleged that Jo Se Ho had accepted high-value gifts from acquaintances associated with organized crime and had promoted the franchise despite its purported connections.

The post included a photo showing Jo Se Ho and Mr. Choi together at what appeared to be an entertainment venue. The caption questioned whether “a national comedian should be drinking, receiving expensive gifts, and promoting a franchise allegedly operated by members of an organized-crime group.”

The Instagram account further asserted that Mr. Choi is involved in operating illegal gambling sites and laundering gambling proceeds through legitimate businesses in Korea. The user demanded clarification from Jo Se Ho, stating that “illegal gambling harms and destabilizes society.”

After no response was issued by Jo Se Ho, the account renewed its call for an explanation on December 1, posting additional photos said to show Jo Se Ho and Mr. Choi together over several years. The caption asked Jo Se Ho to clarify “his relationship with the alleged head of a major illegal money-laundering network.”

On December 4, the user claimed that previous posts were repeatedly removed, writing through Instagram Stories: “The posts keep getting deleted. How can you delete the posts but not explain, Jo Se Ho?”)

Hello, this is Jo Seho.

First of all, I sincerely apologize for disappointing so many people with the recent incident.

When I think about how great of a disappointment this must have been to those who have supported and liked me for such a long time, I struggled to find the right words to say.

I worried that giving a long explanation might only make things more uncomfortable, but I felt that it was my responsibility to directly share my thoughts and position with you as someone who has received so much love.

Since long ago, I’ve traveled around the country for various local events, and in doing so, I met many different people I didn’t know before.

As someone who stands in front of the public, I should have been more careful in managing my relationships, but because I was more immature back then, I don’t think I handled all of those connections with enough maturity. I deeply reflect on this.

However, I want to make it clear that the suspicions raised due to those connections, just as many of you have been worried about, are completely untrue.

Of course, I understand very well that the way I appeared in those photos alone caused disappointment.

I should be giving viewers laughter and comfort, yet instead I made you feel discomfort and disappointment. Once again, I deeply reflect on and apologize for that.

Going through this incident, I asked myself whether it was right for me to continue appearing on the programs I’m currently part of.

You Quiz on the Block is a program where sincerely listening to and empathizing with guests’ stories is the most important part.

In my current state, I judged that I would not be able to fulfill that role well enough.

Also, since 1N2D is an important variety program on public broadcaster KBS, I worried that I might place unnecessary burden on the show and the whole team. After much consideration, I conveyed my intention to step down from both programs to the production teams.

I feel nothing but sorry toward the members, staff, and viewers who trusted me and worked with me.

After getting married last year and starting a family, I have been trying to become a better person, but through this situation, I deeply realized that I still have many shortcomings.

Even so, for the sake of the family I must take responsibility for, I plan to correct parts that are not true through the necessary procedures.

From now on, I will manage my surroundings and actions even more thoroughly so I will not cause this kind of disappointment again.

I will take this incident as an opportunity for deep self-reflection and work to greet you again as a more mature person.

I will become a better person.
