On the 17th, Team Bunnies stated that reports had emerged saying that on the 11th, HYBE subsidiary BELIFT LAB filed a lawsuit seeking 100 million won in damages against the NewJeans fan group “Team Bunnies.” They claimed, “The case hasn’t even been assigned to a court yet, so we suspect that the information came from HYBE.”
They continued, “There were reports questioning the identity of the NewJeans fandom, but this shows a lack of understanding of how K-pop fandom activities work,” adding, “This protest statement, the truck demonstrations, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism fax campaign, and last year’s National Assembly audit fax campaign were all led by different fans. HYBE, which could not possibly be unaware of this, shifting responsibility onto a specific individual, filing a lawsuit, and waging a media battle is effectively an attempt to pressure and intimidate the NewJeans fandom.”
In closing, Team Bunnies said, “HYBE has been delaying an official announcement regarding NewJeans’ full-group return for over a month. Instead of reassuring worried and concerned NewJeans fans, they are recklessly filing civil and criminal lawsuits against fans, which we deeply regret.” They added, “We urge HYBE to clearly state its official position regarding the full five-member lineup of NewJeans: Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein, and to faithfully fulfill its duty to protect its artists.”

In particular, Team Bunnies reportedly filed a criminal complaint against BELIFT LAB CEO Kim Tae-ho based on his interview with a media outlet in which he stated that “ILLIT and NewJeans’ planning concepts are completely different.” They are currently holding truck demonstrations in front of HYBE’s headquarters demanding protection for the NewJeans members.
