2025 was the year when artificial intelligence’s full potential roared into view, and when it became clear that there will be no turning back.

TIME copied this iconic photo of the workers who built our cities to crown the tech billionaires who are using AI to decimate and destroy the working class. https://t.co/B4eiOSXH0Y pic.twitter.com/QLw0junaq1

There were a lot of people who were expecting Pope Leo XIV to be chosen as the Person of the Year
Some folks in the comments were asking what the Pope's cover was about, so to elaborate:
In 2013, Pope Francis was named Time Magazine's Person of the Year.
In 1962, John XXIII was Person of the Year,
and in 1994, John Paul II was Person of the Year.
Given the prevalence of Catholicism overseas, many people anticipated or hoped for a pope.
There are also people calling this "boring" because it is not a real person
The issue is that they picked several people
CEOs selected as AI designers
(From left to right)
Mark Zuckerberg (META)
Lisa Su (AMD)
Elon Musk (Tesla)
Jensen Huang (Nvidia)
Sam Altman (OpenAI)
Demis Hassabis (Google DeepMind)
Dario Amodei (Anthropic)
Fei Fei Li (World Labs)

1. So I was the only one who thought they picked a good oneã…‹ã…‹ã…‹
2. This is supposed to be satire though
3. This is satire. The workers' world has completely changed with one click
4. I feel like TIME really recognized our current social conditions well though
5. Are they making a fuss because they don't understand satire?
6. It doesn't matter if they had a positive or negative influence. What's sure is that they had a big influence. I don't know what else made more impact that AI this year
7 . I think they picked a good "person". The social conditions are definitely changing right now
8. As expected, everyone here thought the same as me
9. I think that this was purposeful and well-picked
10. I can understand that they were inspired but the fact that they used a "worker" concept was so-so
