BAE173 member Hangyul is ending his exclusive contract with his agency, Pocketdol Studio.
Pocketdol Studio announced, “Hangyul's exclusive contract will end on the 28th.” They stated, "It has been a precious journey together over the past decade, witnessing each other's growth. We sincerely thank Hangyul for his quiet passion and dedication throughout this time. Although his exclusive contract with our company is ending, we wholeheartedly support the new activities and challenges he will pursue in the future."
CEO Kim Kwang-soo stated, “Hangyul was a steadfast friend who stood by my side through thick and thin, whether the company was thriving or struggling, during joyful times or when sad events occurred. To me, he was a precious presence who became a confidant, a friend, and a younger brother. I am truly grateful and thankful for the long time we spent together.”
He added, “In my 41 years of watching many artists, it's rare to find someone like Hangyul who quietly holds his ground and shows such sincerity. He is a friend so special I wouldn't hesitate to put him in my eye. I sincerely congratulate him, bless him, and cheer him on as he embarks on this new path.”
Hangyul grew alongside his agency for about 10 years, starting from his trainee days. After debuting with the group IM in 2017, he gained recognition by appearing on KBS2's ‘The Unit’ and placing 13th. He was also selected as a final member through Mnet's ‘PRODUCE X 101’ and debuted with the project group X1. He then conducted pre-debut activities as part of the unit H&D with Lee Hangyul and Nam Dohyun. He officially debuted with the group BAE173 on November 19, 2020, and has continued active promotions.
Recently, he was selected as a final member on the survival program ‘Starlight Boys’ and took on another new challenge by concurrently promoting with the group POLARIX.
