[theqoo] BUZZ FACTOR IS ALSO A SKILL... JISOO'S 'MONTHLY BOYFRIEND' , GLOBAL #7 DEBUT

Monthly Boyfriend, starring Jisoo of BLACKPINK, has debuted in the global Top 7.

According to the OTT platform ranking site FlixPatrol on the 8th, Monthly Boyfriend ranked 7th in Netflix’s global TV show category (including English-language shows) the previous day.

The show entered the Top 10 in 52 countries, including South Korea, Brazil, India, Hong Kong, and Vietnam.

Monthly Boyfriend is a romantic comedy about Mirae (Jisoo), a webtoon producer exhausted by real life, who fulfills her romantic fantasies by subscribing to and experiencing relationships through a virtual dating simulation. The title Monthly Boyfriend refers to the virtual dating subscription service that appears in the drama.

The drama was released on the 6th and has received mixed reactions amid strong public interest.

A major point of criticism has been Jisoo’s acting, with some viewers expressing disappointment, saying things like, “Her gestures and facial expressions feel awkward,” and “It seems difficult to fully immerse in her emotions.”

On the other hand, many viewers have given positive evaluations, noting, “You can clearly see the effort Jisoo put in,” “This is the most impressive performance among the works she’s appeared in so far,” and “It was much more entertaining than expected.” These viewers highlighted her effort and potential.

original post: here

1. She seriously sucks too much, so bad that you can't even turn a blind eye to it. Not only is it an attack to  my eyes, her voice is also frustrating and her enunciation is a mess

2. I watched the show and... I don't even think this kind of drama requires acting skills. It's all about casting a bunch of high profile people as cameos and showing their faces, so I think Jisoo is fit for it

3. It's fun, but I wouldn't call it a masterpiece. It's just a fun romcom

4. Where did all the people who kept insisting Cha Eunwoo's acting improved before he got canceled? ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

5. I can't comment on her acting, but the kids here saying they don't know why she's pretty, go look at yourself in a mirror

6. Cha Eunwoo isn't a good actor, but at least he's better than Jisoo. What's up with the comments above?

7. I feel like the drama would do way better if they cast a nother female lead... First of all, the female lead is dragging the drama down

8. She's better than Cha Eunwoo, she has the romcom visual

9. But international K-drama fans don't care about acting skills, and this is the kind of plot that would drive them insane. They're into cringy romcoms

10. She's better than I thought, the hate is excessive
