The CEO of Blue Elephant operates the company without any design experience or hiring designers, imitating the designs of Gentle Monster. They produced products by directly photographing Gentle Monster's products and sending the photos to overseas counterfeit manufacturers. In addition, the CEO is accused of importing 44 types of counterfeit Gentle Monster products, totaling over 413,000 items, from August 2023 to June of last year.
When 29 of the 51 types of Blue Elephant counterfeits were compared with the genuine products using 3D scanning, more than 95% of the lines matched within a 1mm error range. Among these, 18 types showed a matching rate of over 99%, which was investigated to be 'design dead copy' products. However, it was confirmed that none of the 51 Gentle Monster product designs were registered.
