[theqoo] JISOO WHO'S BEEN ACTING FOR 6 YEARS, STILL NO IMPROVEMENT

Actress Jisoo is stuck in a rut.

After a year-long hiatus, Jisoo returns with her new project, the Netflix series ‘Boyfriend in Demand’. Released on the 6th, ‘Monthly Boyfriend’ is a romantic comedy about webtoon producer Mirae (played by Jisoo), who, exhausted by real life, subscribes to and experiences a virtual dating simulation to fulfill her romantic fantasies.

However, lead actress Jisoo is displaying the same shortcomings evident in her previous works. Though she's been called an actress for six years now, her acting capabilities haven't significantly changed.

Her chronic vocal issues, long pointed out as a limitation, remain evident this time. Her distinctive muffled, nasal delivery struggles to naturally maintain the drama's rhythm. There's little passionate acting to compensate for these shortcomings. She appears unskilled at delivering the lively, bouncy dialogue typical of romantic comedies and lacks the physicality needed to carry the comedy. Ultimately, it seems she's filling the gaps caused by her inexperienced acting with her beautiful appearance.

‘Boyfriend on Demand’ is a project where Jisoo carries the bulk of the screen time. She carries the 10-episode series alongside the ‘Monthly Boyfriends’. Given this, her lack of capability is inevitably fatal.

Jisoo first stepped into acting in 2021. She challenged herself with genre work in last year's Coupang Play ‘Newtopia’ and now presents her third lead drama with ‘Boyfriend on Demand’. She meets global viewers amid concerns about her acting skills.

original post: here

1. She's just so unpleasant to watch

2. She can improve her acting and vocalization if she just practices...

3. Her pronunciation and acting are just not it

4. I don't get why people keep trying to make their hobbies into careers. Jisoo has been in so many dramas that I stopped watching midway... Sigh...

5. I watched ep. 1 and she did better than I thought so I'm planning on watching the rest

6. I can't say about singing since I haven't seen it, but I watched Dr. Cheon and Omniscient Point of View, and every time this person appeared, it broke my immersion... Even I, who knows nothing about acting, could tell it was terrible.

7. How does she keep getting cast

8. She doesn't have the voice for singing nor acting. Seriously, she's a wall that blocks me from enjoying anything. She'd be better if she practiced

9. With a face so perfectly suited for acting, sigh... Park Jihoon's putting it to good use, but Jisoo will come around someday, right?

10. Could it be that she doesn't improve because she thinks criticism about their acting is just "hateful comments"...?
