On the 24th, President Lee Jaemyung commented on the recent BTS concert held at Gwanghwamun Square, stating, “It seems to have played a truly significant role in promoting South Korea.”
President Lee made these remarks while receiving a report from Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Choi Hwi-young during a Cabinet meeting held at the Blue House that day.
When Minister Choi stated, “I believe we reaped immeasurable benefits in that the live broadcast drew the attention of young people worldwide to the heart of Seoul. The number of foreign tourists increased significantly in March. Notably, the number of visitors in their teens and twenties rose more than the average,” President Lee agreed, adding, “(Foreign tourists) will now come to Gwanghwamun in large numbers.”
He continued, “This BTS concert seems to have been decisive in promoting both Gwanghwamun and the Republic of Korea. It was well-planned and executed,” adding, “The Ministry of the Interior and Safety and other relevant agencies worked hard. They handled safety issues well, and everything went smoothly without any accidents.”
