This kind of “overlapping SNS activity” controversy isn’t new. Previously, Chinese netizens highlighted a suspected coincidence involving a restaurant in Seoul. V posted a photo of himself dining at the restaurant on August 4 last year, and the following day, August 5, Jang Wonyoung shared a photo believed to be taken at the same location. Observers noted similarities in the marble table pattern, cups, and menu items, arguing it might not be a coincidence.
Speculation about shared food preferences has also been a recurring topic. On July 3, a photo of noodles that Jang Wonyoung posted was claimed, via Chinese online communities, to match a dish from a restaurant near V’s home. The dish is reportedly one of V’s favorites, and Jang Wonyoung has also said she enjoys it, which fueled the connection. Some also claimed that the marble table pattern in the photo resembled the one in V’s home.
There are also claims tying together their stated “ideal types.” In a recent broadcast, Jang Wonyoung said she prefers a well-managed man with a fit physique. Fans connected this to V’s more muscular image following his military discharge (he enlisted in 2023), further fueling speculation. There were also claims that Jang Wonyoung included songs in her SNS posts that V had recommended during live broadcasts. Additional points raised include their overlapping schedules in Los Angeles during KCON, and that Jang Wonyoung dined at “MOTHER WOLF,” a restaurant previously visited by RM, V’s bandmate.
In particular, Jang Wonyoung’s attendance at BTS’s recent “ARIRANG” world tour concert in Goyang, where she reportedly attended alone among IVE members, has also been cited by some as meaningful. While she is openly known to be a BTS fan and brought a light stick to the concert, some fans have read into the fact that she attended without her groupmates.
However, all of these claims remain unconfirmed rumors. Neither agency has issued an official statement, and most of the points cited are based on circumstantial speculation. Given the wide-ranging activities of K-pop idols and the everyday nature of SNS posts, overlaps in locations or food preferences can easily be coincidental, and many argue that such interpretations are a stretch.
Jang Wonyoung continues to be active through IVE promotions and various broadcast appearances, while V is drawing global attention with a more mature image following his military discharge.
