What are some criticisms or ‘could’ve been done better’ opinions of your favourite groups regarding their career, music etc.? Rather than general comments, would be great to state specific improvements. Tbh, most of my complaints are directed towards the company rather than the group itself.
When it comes to Black Pink:
1. If there’s one MV I would completely redo, it would be Shut Down. I think I listened to the song less because I wasn’t a fan of the MV. I don’t really like using previous MVs as the whole reference and it even looks more lazy when the background is just white, at least build a complete set. They could have come up with a more interesting concept overall.
2. On the contrary, I actually really liked Jump as a song even though I didn’t quite like this MV either and prefer watching the concert performance. I think the concept makes sense but the editing feels too rushed especially when they start floating in the air. It’s a shame because I had high hopes because of the director and his work for New Woman but it didn’t quite deliver.
3. This is not really an improvement but I never got the hype for Boombayah, it’s always been at the bottom when it comes to my favourite music from them. I also don’t listen to completely ‘loud’ music daily which is why I knew that I genuinely liked Jump as a song.
4. Back to MVs lol, I’m such a big fan of wide shots, I just think it easily adds more depth and they have some really pretty sets. But the director who was in charge of their MVs clearly hates them as most of his shots feel quite close. Oh well.
I think they’ll work with a new director again for ‘GO’ and Rosé mentioned it contains a lot of CGI so I’m slightly worried. With how long YG has delayed it, surely they’ve had enough time to at least perfect the editing of the MV. We’ll see.
